Anyone know of where to go for online copies of USPAP? It was available at USPAP.org, which is now just a "flip-book" style site. Not searchable or clickable. Thanks!

What a bunch of bs. So much for building the public trust in a profession, they can't even go read the rules in a typical format without paying. I wish I would have saved the pdf before this garbage came out.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could see your complaint if you were a civilian, but you're an appraiser. Buy the freaking thing!

History of the Foundation

BACKGROUND
In the early 1980's, the crisis in the savings and loan industry highlighted the need to improve appraisal practices throughout the United States. The difficulties and losses experienced by many lending institutions illustrated the importance of ensuring that appraisals are based upon established, recognized standards, free from outside pressures.

The Appraisal Foundation is funded by a grant from the ASC, revenue from the sale of the USPAP, fees from USPAP courses, and other activities.

My point is that if we as appraisers tell someone that the reason is USPAP compliance, they should be able to easily go online and read it for themselves.

Then they can just go to USPAP.org and look it up. It's still there, it's just not as convenient as the version you have to pay for.

Oh, I don't know. If people have questions about other matters that have to do with regulatory or legal issues, they hire someone with acknowledged competence in that real. Wisconsin Avenue regulatory lawyers bill $400 + per hour for their time and training. We act like the worn out hookers of the "professional" realm, jumping through our hats to give information away.

Let them take your word for it or suggest they hire someone else whose opinion they respect, keeping in mind that the more one pays for a professional opinion the more likely they are to believe it.

I love it how Troy512 (apparently not an appraiser) is passing out links to illegal copies of USPAP, to licensed appraisers. USPAP is copyrighted, and the version offered is not approved for free distribution by the AF.

Do you guys steal cable, pirate music and movies, and shoplift at the local convenience store as well?

Pay the freakin money and buy the legal version.

Imagine the irony, appraisers stealing the book which describes the ethical requirements of and for appraisers...
