Has anyone tried to run ACI or Total on a computer running the LINDOWS operating system?

TED,

Do you mean "Lunix"?

Down here we ain"t never hear of Lindows.

No, although it is a Linux based OS. There is a web site called Lindows.com. According to the information on this site they have some compatablity with Windows based programs.

Lindows is an os that is based on linux that will operate Windows programs. Busness Week has listed it as one of the 101 worst ideas of the last year. Other than that, I have no idea how it works or if it works. Personally, I would be cautious about blending os's like that.......

WAL-MART is reported to be selling computers with the lunix system.

I have the Lunix based Starwritter-it was free -now about $75.

It is a good low cost subsitute for MS Office Suite.

Graphics are better, you cannot use math tables in the Word Processing module.

Who knows the future-at present we are stuck with BG. It does work and is about the price of a relo.

I don't have time to program any more--buy it and use it as is.

If you have an extra Computer laying around that you are not using, why not use it to test out new Software, but I wouldn't try it on your main System with all of your Appraisal Files.

Actually, installing it on an old machine to play with was what I was thinking about doing. I was also thinking of setting up a Linux based server for my ACI data files even if I can't get the progam to run on a Linux / Lindows machine. Is this an option that anybody is using? I notice in ACI - Options - Advanced there is a check box if you are running an non windows server. I guess that that's for Linux and Netware based servers. I just wish that the ACI manual wasn't so skimpy. What I really would like is the get my hands on this the ACI tech support manual that the call center uses.

what i would like to do is get a programmer to go with me one or two days and let them see what we need to produce a repot in the least amount of time and accurate and not redundant.(retyping)

Some items are a great improvent-integrated maps, paste pictures in, scan docs in, scale fonts, colors, insert Word docs, a good gata base.

Why can't we have a field gathering system that is geared to inspections not forms.

Why will not the data transfer (ever do a relo lately)

Why when I type in location(sd) in the order or page 1, can not that sd data be inserted with going thru 5 different steps.(We had that 15 years ago)

Any to each his own as to gettin his hands dirty.

Singing to the choir Ed.

None of the PDA / Pocket PC programs are worth a darn. They were written by programers and who have never inspected a property. I could give a rip if my PDA screen looks like a 1004.
