FILE SAVE AS.... ???? HOW ???

Rookie user

We are away from home. My wife typed a file up. I cannot find it to copy it over to my computer.

IF I COULD JUST "SAVE AS" TO A FILE LOCATION, IT WOULD WORK

SO....I HAVE A FILE OPEN IN HER COMPUTER.

HOW DO I "SAVE AS" THAT FILE ?????

SO I CAN COPY IT ONTO AN AD CARD

no knowledge of your software but can't you just use windows explore to just search the whole computer for the file name?

!!! I WISH !!!

Total does not have a "Save As" feature. Opening files from Total Explorer can convolute the situation.

It appears that once a file is open in Total, that there is NO WAY of backing it up, moving it, or exporting it. All this has to be done from Total Desktop, so Windows users have to become Total Desktop users to prosper in file management.

How can one add a file to Total Desktop, when the file is open in Total?

I HAVE BEEN MANAGING FILES FOR DECADES IN WINDOWS EXPLORER.
TOTAL DOES NOT ALLOW YOU MANAGE FILES EASILY IN WINDOWS EXPLORER.

THE Q REMAINS... IF I HAVE A FILE OPEN IN TOTAL... HOW DO I MANAGE IT'S LOCATION (A SIMPLE "SAVE AS" TASK)

total report files are .ZAP files, with annoying additional associated .bz1 and .ztl, that appear to not be needed in file managemnet

I want to create a .ZAP file in a location of my choice, from the Total program window, a simple "save as" task

bummer - glad I do not have that software. does the program have a send to option that you could email it to yourself? (ACI does)

You have the best appraisal software on the market (IMHO). In desktop click on the "share" tab and email yourself a copy of the report - not a pdf copy.

why, yes it does (or so it represents)... the only problem with that is that you have to have pop mail, and have it all set up. I do not use pop mail... pop mail seems so 1990's

The report does not show up in Total Desktop. I opened it with the Total Explorer feature, and Total saves all the newly entered and saved data in a location.... unknown... and not in a .zap file

I am going to call Total tomorrow and calmly and patiently get to the bottom of how one is able to "save as" a file. It has been an ongoing nightmare when preparing appraisals with laptops in varying office locations with internet interruptions. A simple windows friendly Save As feature in the File Tab would solve this issue.

All reports are saved in individual ZAP files. There's no such thing as a report not in a ZAP, nor are there reports not in the Desktop (unless you moved them).

Call tech support, but I can assure you that the data is in the report's ZAP. And if you have the report on screen and need to send it, just email it.

You say you don't like "pop mail", but frankly I have no idea what you mean. We simply launch your default Windows-registered mail client, regardless of what sort of protocol it uses. If you mean you only use webmail, then you've taken a huge step backward. All major web mail systems also support desktop mail clients, and it's a real pain to not use a dedicated client (such as Outlook).

Bob....
I don't think it has been mentioned yet...........get yourself a subscription to The Vault.

Then as the file is being worked on, and you need to walk away from it, upload it to the Vault. Every time you then begin working on the report again in your laptop or desktop, you can keep uploading to the Vault and the 'old version' will be overwritten with the new updated version.

The advantage with the Vault, is you can now download the report into any other computer that has TOTAL or even the older WinTotal installed.

However, you don't want to have the same report being worked on independently on two separate computers.
