Maybe it's time for a class action lawsuit over the portal "tech fees"? What other industries get to pass their cost of doing business down as a line item? Why do appraisers put up with this?

I'm not talking about the direct to appraiser platforms that bypass the AMC model and bring you work ie Appraisal Port, Mercury, Reggora, etc. But the platforms AMCs and lenders chose for their order management - then pass that cost as a line item to you (which is total insanity).

There is really no need to sue over it.... and not sure there is a case. No one forces an appraiser to accept assignments. Personally, I decided not to accept any assignment that required me to pay any kind of fee to get or transmit the work. You don't want to pay a portal fee? Then decline the assignment.

Simply add these costs to the fee. US Bank & Citi Private Bank readily accept these fee add on. :)

It’s one if many ways the AMC/GSE crime family legally extorts the individual appraiser, yet there are always appraisers who defend the AMC/GSEs and impugn the individual appraiser for objecting.

Why do appraisers put up with this?

Only deal with Mercury because a few of my local banks use it and just tack an extra $25 on to the entire fee schedule.

I think impugn is too mild a word. Punish is more like it.

so they charge the borrower a tech fee...and charge the appraiser a tech fee...basically double dipping i mean public trust :rof:
