Just want to get some feedback from the experts in South Carolina.
I currently run a successful appraisal co. in north NJ. Business is great. I have a ton of work and make very good money. My wife also has a full time job and between both our incomes we should be able to lead a comfortable life. Unfortunately NJ isn't about leading comfortable lives anymore. It's about taking as much money from your pocket as possible. Due to the extremely high cost of living and insanely high property taxes we are mulling over a potential relocation.
We specifically like the area of the state around Charleston. My question to you would be, is it profitable to run an appraisal business in this area of SC? Is there enough work to go around or is the area saturated with appraisers? Is most of the work through AMCs and local banks? Or is there a good amount of work through attorneys (big source of work up here)?
Thanks to all who take the time to respond!
