I use MLS in Riverside, CA for searches as well as RealQuest and a couple others but I recently noticed on the MLS website that they added a new search feature called Realist. I played around with it and found it is just a good as RealQuest. Then I found that this is because First American Title makes both of these products. They also charge the same for them. So my question is why pay for RealQuest if Realist is free with MLS? Can anyone add some feedback on this? I would greatly appreciate it.

Debra,

I use realist.com and find it to be fine for my needs. The "general query" takes some getting used to but afterwards works great for searching. There is an FAQ that explains a lot of important stuff on searches (such as inputting thomas guide coordinates).

The only thing it lacks is parcel maps, which are available but cost $2.00 per map (or something close to that). In LA County the maps are online, so even that's not an issue.

I agree with Robert. MRMLS just added Realist on 9/1. We have discontinued Realist, no need to pay for the same service.

The only difference is if you have mutiple user's. Only one person can be logged onto MRMLS versus mutiple user's with Realist.

RealList is simply the version of RealQuest that is sold to MLS systems. The only reason I can think of someone would want both is you make constant use of features like the parcel maps that have and extra fee and have a large volume of work it is possible, but unlikely, keeping both could save a few bucks due to lower pricing for the extras in your RealQuest subscription. If I had RealList in my MLS, the RealQuest subscription would be cancelled at the earliest opportunity.

I called RealQuest to ask what the difference was and found out the Realist costs the same as Realquest. The salesman was being so darn pushy to get me to buy Realquest it wasn't funny. $300 month for 6 counties. I think having NDC and Realist and MRMLS is plenty too. Thanks for the feedback..
