hey gang, does anyone have a particularly good marketing letter you send out to realtors that you've met on assignment? looking for something to plagerise off of!

thanks

george, given the amount of time since your post to this first response, it is my guess that you are swimming in unchartered waters.... No letter help here. Actually, am wondering how it is exactly that you have pegged "realtor" with the equivalent of helper. Most of the time when i call upon a realtor, in order to schedule an inspection, i will say "congratulations on the pending sale of your listing" other than that, i try not to befriend them anymore than necessary. {edit: please excuse any verbiage which may or maynot irritate the reader in regards to realtor status}. If they have asked for some of your cards, CERTAINLY, share business cards. hope this helps...

Hi,

In the past I have sent letters to Realtors to thank them for their assistance in gaining access to a listing. I enclosed a couple of cards, told the Realtor a little about myself, and informed the Realtor that I if she ever needed to refer an appraiser for a relocation, REO, or estate appraisal I would be more than happy to handle the assignment.

Over the years this is how I established myself in the market as a relocation and REO appraiser. It also resulted in referrals to some mortgage companies, both good and bad.

Good Luck,

Back in the late '90's' I contacted Brokers and offered to briefly speak about appraisal related issues at their morning meeting. For instance; back when the new FHA Guidebook For Appraisers & resultant changes were coming about...this was a commonly requested topic for discussion. I also made multi-page handouts in a spiral binder for these discussions...I'd research a requested topic about a week ahead of time & compile information I thought they'd find interesting & informative.

Be careful what you ask for though...I was suddenly receiving significant request to value difficult & challenging properties.
