Has anyone recently got reciprocal Certified Residential License of New York from any of the States that don't have reciprocity set-up with New York State.
Any guidance on the subject would be appreciated.

If the state does NOT have reciprocity with New York, how do you expect to obtain a license thru reciprocity. It would appear that if you desire a New York license you would either have to go through the regular process or find a state that has reciprocity with New York that also has reciprocity in Virginia.

Basically my query was directed at the following condition:

Reciprocity is granted only with respect to the license/certificate issued by the state where the applicant was originally examined.

So even if I get a license of a State that has a reciprocal arrangement with NY, the State where I took the exam would still not be reciprocal with NY.

I believe that what that is referring to works like this:

(Just as an example.)

You hold an appraiser licensed granted by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Virginia, where your license is granted, has reciprocity with Maryland and vice versa. (A Virginia appraiser can appraise in Maryland and a Maryland appraiser can appraise in Virginia.)

Maryland has reciprocity with New Jersey and vice versa.

New Jersey and Virginia do NOT have reciprocity with each other.

Therefore, with your Virginia license, you can not do appraisals in New Jersey NOR can a New Jersey license holder do appraisals in Virginia. But a Maryland appraiser can appraise in BOTH Virginia and New Jersey.

Reciprocity is essentially a contract between states to recognize some or all appraiser credentials from both. In Illinois, we have NO reciprocity. We have Endorsement. This means that if you're a certified appraiser from another jurisdiction, all you need to do is complete the application, pay the fee and skip our exam.

Too many states have scuttled their old agreements or agreements were unilaterally changed thereby ending reciprocity.

Reciprocity is too difficult to track and requires too much effort. Endorsement is the way to go.

I know someone who got a reciprocal license in CT because they have reciprocity with New York. You will need to follow the chain and check with the intermediate state that what you want to do will work.
