Rent Controls Usually Backfire

When in college decades ago, I wrote papers for my business classes explaining rent control is bad for the market.
It's so obvious but still continues and skews the housing market with rent control.
You can see the lower values for buildings in SF under rent control compared to nearby cities without it.
When government and social policies can deal with the housing problem, they put the burden on landlords to keep rents low.
So unfair and waiting for the day that the Supreme Court will rule it unconstitutional on property rights.
