Bob,

As we discussed, I would be interested in seeing some (really as many as you can gather) examples of e-mails or letters sent by lenders/brokers to appraisers that contain a "value must hit" condition, or any suggestion of what the outcome of the appraisal should be. I appreciate any assistance you can provide in spreading the word to other appraisers who may have received requests of this kind.

She is really only interested in NC related issues.

It is a "he" not a "she" and no....he is trying to see how common it is....nationwide. This guy is a hardworking reporter that has been very helpful in our area and now is trying to see if lender pressure is a nation wide thing.

Send him what you have.......not much effort involved.

PLEASE !!!

Don't just discard or delete this things. Without the evidence, nobody believes it's really happening!

Forward EVERYTHING you get with any kind of request / demand that's illegal for an appraiser to accept!!!!!

I'm sure Bob will do an excellent job explaining what is so very wrong with them.

Pam,

Did you get the ones that I forwarded to you?

Pam,

As you well know, these "local" stories go all over the nation. The Charlotte Observer has a number of "sister" papers owner by the same company.

We should never pass up a chance to get our message out in the newpaper.
It is the MESSAGE that is important...not the messenger.

No matter where you live....if you have improper requests...fax or email a few to this fellow. What have you got to lose?

Ed, when did you send them? I get so many now that it's hard for me to remember who sent what when.

The 'faltering' real estate market is making the news and they are finally willing to take the appraisers issues up. With what Oregon Doug is doing and the media finally reporting, we are starting to see some progress. The hardest part of all of this is getting the evidence. Without it, it's all just 'hearsay' and not usable.

Sorry about the gender error. I made contact via email as soon as this post was made and he indicated that he was only interested in NC issues but would accept an example if I had one handy (which I did) and I sent it. I offered more if needed.

Pam, I have a small file if you ever need any more. Out of frustration I have recently returned to round filing them.

Searching the forum

Bob--You might invite the reporter to search the forum. I found 6 specific examples in less than 3 minutes.
