In CA, I have to renew every four years.
Can I take the same course like FHA class I took five years ago (refresher and easy) to count as my CE for next renewal?

Since we all have to take USPAP every 2 years (even when there were no charges), I don't see why not. I doubt anyone is keeping track. I hate taking the same thing twice personally, but it's your money and time. I've taken different income courses from different providers when I was doing lots of income property work.

It may vary by state. Here, you can take the same course as long as it is in different renewal cycles. The USPAP National Update is not the same class. The content changes with each version... although, admittedly, sometimes the changes are not dramatic.

There's so many topics that course providers can offer. I decided to take classes that I'm deficient in my knowledge instead of interesting classes.
I want to be better appraiser.
After that if need more additional required units, I'll just take refresher courses.

FHA is a good refresher course, but if you do FHA constantly it's only a few factors that you have to be aware of. the rest is general info needed about the neighborhood that you may already be doing in conventional. i did a lot of FHA, so i just do every appraisal like it's FHA. i look for adjustment classes, you might learn 1 or 2 things that you never thought of.

I took FHA class last cycle just to keep abreast of FHA although I have not done one in some 20 plus years. I do hunt around to find new materials. I grow weary of the old stuff.

you definitely need a class on how to avoid racially charged code words... :cautious:

I don't do that much FHA, maybe one or two a year.
I was talking with my fellow appraiser. We laughed about it. So funny that FHA makes us do things that endanger our lives.

FHA does not make you do things that endanger your life. It never has.

Sticking your head in the attic exposes one to toxic insulation fumes and who knows what.
Thanks FHA for accumulating all those toxic stuff into my lungs. Should at least tell me to wear a mask.
