Any techies out there that can tell me if this unit will adequately run the Pocket Total. I am really limited where I am located in Central Wisconsin, as there is not decent voice/data service. This is the only local device that I can find that might work.
The HP handhelds only use Cingular service and no local providers can even take the unlocked versions and provide service. Cingular service here is very poor.
Cannot find Dell Axim anymore. Were they discontinued?

Why not use the Treo?

Isn't the Treo a palm device?
Did not think PocketTotal ran on it?

Treo 700p is Palm, Treo 700wx is MS Windows. I have a Treo 700w from Verizon, the model before the 700wx and I run pocket total on it. Both the 700w and 700wx are Windows 5.0 Mobile with the difference between the 2 being the 700wx has more internal memory. In fact I would be surprised if you find the 700w anywhere since the 700wx is now out. The other phone that Sprint has that I think you are referencing is also Windows 5.0 Mobile so it should be able to run pocket total also. I have not seen that phone up close only on the web and it does look interesting and offers a couple different features than the Treo. One the keyboard appears to be bigger than what is on the Treo. I would say definitely go to the store and check them both out for feel as some complain about the smaller keys on the Treo. I have big hands and never have problems.

Still has a less than stellar 1.3 mpxl camera. Maybe others have had good luck with these cameras, but I never seem to.

The GPS it refers to is for locating you in an emergency. I believe there is separate software and hardware needed to use it for navigation. At least that was the case when I looked at them a while back.

I'm hoping these work out. Like the "all in one" type PPC. I've had very poor service recently from Verizon and we're limited in wireless providers. Sprint is the only other viable option here.

Keep us updated.

Vegan,

Do you use any type of Sketch program on your Treo?

man, I'd never double my phone as a tool..the phone is a tool in and of itself...your just asking for troubles..if one takes a dump you can't do your reports, and you can't make a call...I luckily had a separate PDA..and when it crashed it wasn't all that bad..only lost a days worth of work...but I'd think twice before running all things on one device.

With that logic I should be sticking with my old phone in a bag from 20yrs ago, or get rid of my dvd/vcr player and only stick with 2 seperate components, etc., etc., etc.

^^^what are you taking about?? I never said new techy things weren't useful...I use them myself....it's like using a printer/scanner/fax all in one...one dies, you just lost it all...hopefully you just didn't understand what I said?
