I've done M&E and other personal property appraisals over the years, but there's never really been a forum or contact point. Thanks, Wayne, for starting one.
Admittedly, the appraisal of a Caterpllar D4 is not as sexy as appraising an 1600's blunderbus, but the ability to converse among knowledgable M&E and other non-realty appraisers is a good thing.
It's an area where there's a much wider argument over value. Further, false appraisals are much harder to document. You may have heard about the Antique Roadshow scandal where the appraisers were found falsifying appraisals of antique swords. Nothing happened other than the appraisers getting their hand slapped (sounds familiar, doesn't it). However, unless you are talking about someone messing up big time, as was in this case, no one hears about it.
But at least we now have a place where we can trade notes and, if something odd comes up, get a comment...and where Ray can talk about his horse auctions. LOL
