Heightened awareness of the potential for a mega-quake in California seems to be the hysterical soupe du jour. Like climate change and other impending disasters predicted, they are about as accurate as a drunk throwing darts blindfolded.
The fact that there are a large number of smaller quakes occurring can signal one of three things. A- the big one is coming. B- The numerous quakes are releasing stress slowly in the rocks and thus preventing the big one, or finally, C-it is just a cyclical process that occurs and gives little clue as to what it means...if anything.
