The STATES (!), due to multi-dipping, super-sized government pensioners! Double-triple-quadruple-quintuple-(and UP) pension dippers are bankrupting the states! 46 out of 50 states are basically manipulating the books, just like a PONZI scheme, to cover shortfalls in the pension 'systems'. Very interesting article:

I have never been a doom-and-gloomer. But folks, if you work in the private sector (as I do), and pay taxes (as I do), and you are not convinced that we are DOOMED (as I am), it is very much the time to pay attention, get involved, have a very big mouth, and make your voices heard loud and clear.

If you are a government double-triple-quadruple-quintuple (or more) dipper, working the system, lookout! You are about to be thrust into the spotlight, shunned by your private-sector brethren, and hopefully, prosecuted.

Is working the system for multiple pensions the goal of government workers? Is this supposed to be the entitlement / the reward for having worked for the government? I know pension abuse has been going on for some time, but after reading the above article, I am absolutely stunned and speechless. Simply heartbreaking, really, when ya stop to think about the sheer numbers of fraudsters and cheats.

(NICE! Can't even properly cheat the system anymore without having your name show up on some damn website..........)

Greg,

I'm listening!
As a government worker, do you know something we don't?
What are private-sector lackeys and numb-nuts like myself REALLY up against? How bad IS it? (I bet I don't even really have a clue...) FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, etc., represents quite a handful of government employees, and all in the mortgage/real estate-related category to boot.
Is it even MUCH WORSE than we THINK? Is there something you need to make us aware of?

Big issue here. Some politicians were retiring, drawing a pension, only to bob back up in the same job months later.
http://www.fox16.com/news/story/Leg...ficials-on-double/6IUhkxWskk6QrdQL2rwHTw.cspx

Now the issue is autos. Many agencies had more cars than employees and the Game and Fish Commission, for instance, are reducing their fleet by 50+ cars. One office holder had installed a gooseneck trailer hitch in his "state" truck. After a scandal broke over the issue, numerous employees were forced to pay taxes for the personal useage of such vehicles.

I would like to see everyone who did this be jailed for embezzlement.

The real reason for the "tsunami" is the politicians in states who, instead of funding the plans, used the money for other purposes.

I remember the day, not too long ago, up until the late 80s early 90s. Working for the government typically meant a lower pay than the private sector. In return, you were considered a public servant and because of that, you were promised a good pension.

Then the mantra arose that governement should be run the same as business, all the waste in government and businesses are run lean and mean with no waste. :rof:

The old ideal of being a public servant went out the door. The drive was on to make salaries competitive with the private sector. The idea that money is the only thing attracts the best and brightest became the driving force in the government, as it is in most of the private sector.

With gov salaries more in line with the private sector, the offset to the historically lower salaries, the pension, should have been reduced.

That said, the attack on unions will intensify going into the 2012 election cycle. The exceptions of abuse will be held up as the norm, all financial things evil will be linked to the socialist aspect of unions and government.

We are at a critical point in our history and the battle is on for who we want to be as a country. Be careful of the snake oil sales people on both sides. Everyone who is on TV or writes an article has a personal agenda.

Remember to breath, read and listen to more than one news source and try to apply a larger context to the issues.

Turn off the 24 hour news cycle that must be fed, no matter how unhealthy the food is or what bile is regurgetated.

Take a walk outside. Ask yourself...when was the last time you spent more that 5 minutes researching a topic before the next crisis of the hour took the place of the last crisis.

Also, do some research on the presentors of the information and the organizations for whom they work.

My two bits for a Friday morning.

GH, this is all very good advice. I don't think the article or the point is aimed at regular retired government worker folks.

Gotta be honest tho-----I am naive----I had NO CLUE that 46 states (or whatever the author claims) are on the verge of disaster, attributable to pension abuse. God bless the governmment workers that have served us well, put in their time, and are now comfortably collecting a well-deserved and reasonable (understandable, sensible, in-line with some basic common sense) pension. To all the others (the abusers), please get the hell off the gravy train, one way or another.

I don't remember the details, I guess I should retire, but a few years back WA State allowed retired folks to come back to work. I think it was at a time when we had a shortage of teachers?

I don't think that they would qualify for a 2nd pension, but could collect the current pension while working.

We have A LOT of military members in my service area. I run into many who retired after 20 or so years and get the militray retirement. Forty years of age, or so, when they retire. I can't count how many have gone on to a second carreer in the government and have retired with a second pension.

These folks are usally sitting pretty. I like appraising their homes as the improvements and the land are typical very tidy and well maintained.

If a position is open, someone will fill it. Why not the ex military person who already has the clearances, etc. Would the author of the article consider such a person a cheat? Maybe military service would be exempted?

It's common for Military to move into a government job after retirement.I have no secret inside info that all of you don't know.In fact , we all live in a bubble with no worries at all.Military bases and Washington DC are in another world all of their own. They will come around when bread is $20 a loaf (Non wheat , which will be $25).

The STATES (!),

Many of the States already have been receiving stimulus funds in order to keep from going under, once the stimulus funds are gone, the States real problems will be exposed.
