Oh boy, what could possibly go wrong. As a previous UW, I say plenty can go wrong in the chain of title.

If they want to do this, they need to price for the higher risk. Higher interest rates or fees to offset what will hit the fan when there is a title issue. And length of residence does not mean a thing. Credit score does not mean a thing and LTV does not mean a thing. What a bone headed idea.

Sucks for the appraisers who fed their families with UWM work. First getting screwed over by True Footage, RSDS, and Accurity locking up market areas, now the onslaught of waivers for whatever crumbs that might have fell through the cracks.

In the shake-up at Fannie Mae, there is an opening for a sea change by installing the right people. The government shouldn't be backing up any home loan that doesn't have 1. an inspection. 2. an appraisal 3. title insurance. The moral hazard in waiving any of these items is apparent. If they want to want to minimally underwrite loans it shouldn't be sold to the secondary market. Frustrating that we are dealing with this not 2 decades after the housing industry imploded the world economy.
