After being chased (while measuring an outside wall) by hornets, I decided there has to be a better way to measure the outside of a house. How do those disto devices work? I've been to their web site where they describe how it works but I wanted to see a video of one in action. Do you really just point it at the 2 corners of the wall and get the distance? How far back from the wall do you stand? I see that one (the expensive one) has bluetooth and claims to be able to beam the measurement into my bluetooth capable PDA. Can it? Any insight would be a appreciated.

Check out the Yahoo "Mobile Appraiser" group. Lots of good information on the topic. At least one member of the group is an appraiser in Lakeland that uses a Disto with bluetooth to his PDA. You can probably get together for coffee or lunch and have him demonstrate. Sorry that I am drawing a blank on his name right now.

Would not be with out mine.

Matt Johnson also stands behind his products. See my post from four weeks ago. It went down, I posted a question about it and with in 5 days I had a new one at no charge. I would not buy one anywhere else.

Been using mine now for four years, sure speeds up the process.

I agree with Ray, Matt's company is great.

If you are referring to triangulating by pointing at two corners. it doesnt work too well. Most of the time I'll stand at one corner and point to an object behind the other corner. Then walk to the other side and subtract the difference using the subtraction feature.

Is Matt Johnson a distributor of Disto and does he have a web site?

Bought my first Disto in 2001, best money I've ever spent. Upgraded to the smaller A-5 just this year, fits in your shirt pocket. I've never used the triangular method, never needed it. You can always find a target. I met Matt a few years ago at a trade show, good guy. When I dropped mine on concrete and broke the butt end, he sent me the part in 3 days. Can't go wrong with Matt.

I WAS NOT PAID FOR THIS POST, BUT IF YOU WANT TO MATT, FEEL FREE.

Use the little lazer light to blind them. That keeps them disoriented long enough to get away.

Give Matt a call......he is the ONLY dealer I would buy from.
