Hello all! I am a trainee in Cali and I was wondering just how many hours am I allowed to put for each appraisal? 16 hours? 12 ? 8? Do I put the actual hours I worked on it or do you put an average? I've heard various answers somwhere else and I'm sure I'll hear many different answers here as well.....
thanx!

I'm not from CA., but my advice is universal....call your state Board office! Folks on here will give you the best information they have, but no one, except the Board, can speak for the Board and it would be a shame to get way down the road thinking you have sufficient experience (education, etc.) only to find that you were mis-informed. It will be well worth the hassle and time!!

In Oklahoma, it is ACTUAL hours spent on the assignment. Local drive time can be counted, drive time out of your area can not. Filling out my log was a nightmare as I may have 7 or 8 assignments going at one time and work on one until I hit a snag (verification with Realtor, etc. that I can't get in touch with) then work on the next one 'til I hit a snag. Need a timer like the attorneys and CPA's use!

Missed this the first time I read your post. That is exactly why I gave the advice to contact your Board. No one on this forum would lead you astray, but no one is going to clean up the mess if you work off incorrect information.

On my time logs I wrote my actual hours which correspond with my pay logs and workfiles. At that time, OREA had a 'cut-off' for different types of assignments that count so keep that in mind when calculating your hours for your upgrade. Call them to verify the am't of hours they will credit you and remember if you exceed them you won't get credit for the add'l hours.

Yes, call them. But also get something in writing or off of the website. We had a problem here with an assistant giving out misinformation, which has now stopped.

FL expects the actual hours worked on the form and has a maximum of 10 hours that can be claimed for a SFR. (I guess any more than that must mean the appraiser needs the additional practice anyway.) I don't think I claimed 10 hours on more than a couple. I would keep track of actual hours as best you can and round up to the nearest whole hour for partial hours. I don't think there will be a problem with any reasonable claim.

Colorado allows up to 8 hours for a typical residential appraisal. Driving time is not considered part of that. I have been told what they want to see is a good number of appraisals...not just hours.
