I have just recently completed the education requirements and have received my trainee license (T6853) and am now in the process of trying to secure a supervisor. I am reaching out to you to see if you, or any other appraiser you may know, may be interested in taking me on as a trainee.

I know that it is somewhat daunting to take on a trainee as there is a pretty steep learning curve and that takes time and productivity away from you as a supervisor. But l would like to take this opportunity to discuss what I can bring to the table. I have been a real estate broker since April, 2003 and have been actively involved in property management and sales during that time period. So, I do have extensive experience with measuring for square footage, visually inspecting interior and exterior of homes, navigating through the MLS, finding comparable sales, looking up deeds, and other real estate related activities. In my current position, I am physically out on properties during the day and, therefore, have the opportunity and flexibility to inspect homes for appraisals, as well. Additionally, I am willing to work nights and weekends to complete other tasks.

However, seeing as how I have never actually done an appraisal, I will need some time to get up to speed in the areas of filling in form fields on appraisal reports and getting an idea of the methodology regarding analyzing the information and using it for the actual valuation of the subject property. I’m sure there are other areas in which I am not yet aware that I will need some help but my hope is that I can create enough synergy that you will see a benefit to taking me on pretty quickly.

I would be interested in having a conversation with you regarding the possibility of being a trainee under your supervision. I can be reached at 704-807-9654 or I would be happy to call you at a time that suits you.

If you are not interested but know someone who might be, please feel free to forward my information on to them. And any suggestions you could make that would help me secure a supervisor are welcomed.

Thank you.
