Can anyone tell me what they mean by walk up basement? I have a property that has the garage below grade with a basement area but you have to go outside to get into the main part of the house. You walk-out but you also walk up.

Has an exterior stair exit - as opposed to walking straight out. I rarely see them in MN. I'm surprised to see it in the UAD options...maybe more prevalent in other areas

There is a video titled "Basement and Finished Rooms Below Grade" that you can access from this page:

The video has a discussion and some images of different types of basement access that you may find helpful.

A walk-up usually consist of 4-5 stairs through a bulkhead door

When you have an extrior door from the basement to the outside, where you will then go up steps to get to the ground level. Last house had one and it is better than no direct access but less desirable than our current house with a walkout basement.
