I need a bit of advice from some computer experts. How difficult is it to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11? Will I lose any data or need to reset my passwords? Are there any tips I should keep in mind? Thank you!

Upgrading really depends on your W10 machine.
If you were frugal (actually clever for picking a good spec computer) and your W10 computer has lasted you 7-10 years, chances are the hardware is not compatible with W11. If you picked up your laptop in the past couple a years and opted for a better specs computer, it may run W11. If you bought up a basic 10 computer back in the day, it probably won't run 11.

I would personally recommend an new computer. The modern computer equipment is build to operate W11 flawlessly and your new equipment begins a fresh economic life. Adding 11 on a 10 machine always comes with risks, increases with old and cheaper component machines.

Your browser, whatever you use, can remember your passwords and when you sign it to your browser on the new computer, all that data should transfer automatically.

The recent required Total update forced me to finally go from Win 7 to Win 10. It said my machine is not compatible with Win 11.

You won't lose any data. I didn't even lose data going from 7 to 10. They give you the option to keep personal data or to not keep personal data. If you keep personal data, then it keeps all of the files that are in the c:\\users folder. That is the folder where total stores files. So even if you have to reinstall total, your files would show up.

You shouldn't lose any data. However, backup your most important files just in case.

If you feel upgrading is over your head, you can go to Fiverr.com and have a tech do it remotely. Even if Microsoft says it's not upgradable to Windows 11

Win has a program to tell you if your computer is win 11 compatIble. However, if you have auto updates, then win 10 should have updated to win 11 automatically without you doing it, that simple. But you would know it did as soon a you saw the way your desktop looks in 11. It did it automatically on an older computer without asking, my newer one is not compatible. But i'm hanging with it till microsoft stops the updates on it next year i believe.

You should have gotten a notice already. If your computer hasn't updated to 11 itself, you might not be compatible. And microsoft should have told you already that you are still eligible for the 10 updates till next year. You sound like a novice, which is never good. And your win 10 might stop getting updates which leaves you open to funny business. Eventuall, some programs will stop running with win 10.

Agree... but don't panic yet. There are several computers that will come with W11 preloaded and will do all the tasks you need it to do for $300-$400. Add an external hard drive and you've got what you need to do appraisal work.

Win 7 was the BEST.
I liken this to dinosaur appraisers aging out. All the program writers from the previous MS operating systems just retired or aged out.

The kids came in and tried to make your computer a desktop cell phone. It's not the same.

The transition from 10 to 11 was seamless in my case. The only thing I had to do was uninstall the OneDrive app, something I recommend as a first step because it moves your files around without your acquiescence.
