The California Highway Patrol made another plea for public help in finding a Ventura man wanted in connection with a fatal hit and run crash on the freeway in Ventura while prosecutors say they've filed charges against him.

The crash happened on July 6th around 11:45 PM on the norhtbound 101 north of Victoria Avenue.

The CHP says 48-year-old Patrick John McVicker was driving at a high rate of speed when he crashed into a vehicle driven by 69-year-old John Slade of Ojai.

Slade was killed, a passenger in McVicker's car was injured and McVicker fled the scene on foot.

McVicker, who is a real estate appraiser with substantial financial resources, has managed to elude the authorities since then.

Prosecutors have charged the fugitive with gross vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident causing injury or death.

The CHP said again today, they still believe McVicker is in the area and is getting help from someone.

They say if that's true, they plan to go after the person who is helping McVicker.

McVicker is six foot tall, 225 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

OK. We will keep an eye out for him or his Avatar here. Should he post we will alert the authorities!. :)

Maybe he can generate bail money based on the idea touting survivability of Audi v. Prius

A residential appraiser with "significant financial resources"? Who is this mythical figure?

Some fugitive living with the homeless in the bushes.

Or more likely he's with Billy Joe and Bobby Sue, who took the money and run.

I'd turn the bass turd in to the fuzz, if I knew him and where he was. :peace:

Updated--The CHP says the Ventura man who was the subject of an intense manhunt since a fatal hit and run crash in Ventura on July 6th was arrested Wednesday morning around 11 AM when he returned to the United States on a flight from Mexico.

They say that 48-year-old Patrick McVicker was taken into custody by Customs and Border Patrol officers at Los Angeles International Airport.

The CHP says they had earlier been contacted by a lawyer representing McVicker saying he was ready to turn himself in but apparently they were not aware it would be at LAX.

McVicker was wanted in connection with a crash on the northbound 101 north of Victoria Avenue July 6th that killed well known Ojai drama teacher and actor, 69-year-old John Slade.

McVicker fled on foot following the crash that also injured a passenger in his vehicle.

The CHP launched an extensive hunt for McVicker and at one point thought he might be in the local area being helped by friends or family.

The DA's Office has filed gross vehicular manslaughter and other charges against McVicker who could face up to 11 years in prison if convicted.

The CHP says on the night of the crash McVicker was driving from one bar in Oxnard to another bar in Ventura when the crash occurred.
