Vinita is the cheapest real estate in NE OK. Dr. Phil was born there. It was noted for being the Insane Asylum years ago, now a minimum security prison for men. I know a guy who used to work at the old facility. An inmate kicked him in the head while he was seated in a chair doing paperwork. Damaged his sinuses where he ended up having to have surgery. Just out of the clear blue. The guy just walked by. Vinita is also home of Bruner's graveyard. Bruner was a deputy for Hanging Judge Parker and planted the ones who resisted arrest in a pauper's grave in the city cemetery. Most of the graves are unmarked or marked with a concrete block. PS-the tower in the background is on the grounds of that prison.
