win 10 has a big issue with the system hanging if you try to do a restore to a prior point. Lots of cursing Microsoft about this on their community board. My box started acting up and tried a restore. It hit restoring the registry, hung there. Got with MS chat, finally tech said to kill the computer and pull the battery. We crossed our fingers and gave it a shot. The computer came up, albeit a bit slowly, and started working properly. Didn’t lose any files.

You can’t do a ctl-alt-del to kill the restore process and you can’t push the Off button. Only solution is to pull all the power, driving a stake through the heart of the Restore process. Hope this helps some other soul screaming at their computer as the blue screen with the rotating circles just sets there.

You didn't state your hardware type or age but if I were you and had stability problems first thing to try is a system scan from a command prompt with administrator privileges. Log in as adminstrator, go to start, type cmd, then type sfc /scannow. This should find any corrupt files and repair whatever is bugged up.

When Win 10 locks up on a Restore, you have no choice but to do a full power-down of the computer. I run on a Toshiba 2 year old laptop, very stable platform. Yes, a scan is a good idea, but you have to treat Restore like you would a vampire. Drive the proverbial stake through its heart.

Bios updates are necessary and I 've tried to defeat the Win 10 updates but they seem unstoppable.
