W-7 will run in a Virtual Box on my Linux computer protected from changes into the future. The appraisal software I now use does not automatically link to the outside.
The Cloud Appraisal softwares available are still way to expensive for me. I do not need all that bloat. Many data things an appraiser uses is free from somewhere. It just takes a little longer to place into the appraisal. If we did not need outdated forms requested by the lenders, UAD, XML & ENV a spreadsheet and narrative would work fine and Windows programs would be gone.

I was hesitant to with to windows 10 because I was hearing so much bad publicity-- but I did finally switch earlier in the year and so far it has almost been flawless !!

Been running W10 in Virtual Box for about 6 months now and honestly haven't had any issues with it (knock on wood). Could be because the only thing I do use Windows for is the appraisal software....everything else is on the linux host.

W7 was probably the most trouble free version of MS I've had since the 90s, but still happy to be mostly done with MS.

Haven't seen a Blue Screen of Death in a long time. :D

Aurora will be gone. Better be importing those files into Total. And back them up. If they are older than 5 years, it’s your choice unless it is a sticky situation. :leeann:

How can a computer expert not upgrade Aurora to be windows 10 compatible?
