The few times I did a 1004D where another appraiser did the original report, I was not sent the original - just asked to go and inspect if the X item ( a window, for example) was repaired or repaired.
We are not signing off on another person's work - we are signing off on our own work - which was an assignment to inspect to see if the broken rear window was replaced.
I don't trust ANYONE to send me just what was noted for repairs in the original report, a 1004D is EASY to alter, I just simply DECLINE these assignments, I don't want to get involved and even at my lowest I don't need whatever minimal fee that is being offered for a 1004D.

I only accept them for a few longtime loyal clients -I do a few a year, and never had a problem with it. I trust these clients, and nothing nefarious is going on.
