Photos Missing From My Android Or From Google Photos...

Yeah, exactly. Just install the cloud sync software of your choice and everything is automatic. Not only do they get backed up to the cloud, you retain a copy on your phone. This has been a solved problem for well over a decade already.

The MAI lady I trained under refused to use cloud backups. Never understood why, but she would lose several fully typed narrative reports a year as well as other vital files. She also refused to implement proper report writing software, which is another story...

are there any cheap cloud backups you recommend

Lemme help you out here - I'll try to explain this, being that you're just a youngster ... ;) ... she felt that way because we (of a certain generation) want OUR data and OUR "Stuff" to remain on OUR PC and on OUR external hard drives (for backup) and NOT be shared with anyone else (who is OBTW taking a cut aka $$$ for 'clouding' your data - the English language doesn't have a rich enough 'vocabulary' for me to properly vent my feelings about this ).

Basically, it is our small way of saying: "F this world - I am a part of it *BUT* IT. IS. NOT. MY. WORLD. And it is MY right to retain CONTROL over my little corner of it, to the extent that I can. So - F OFF "cloud software providers."

If you don't "get" that yet cp - don't worry - just wait about 20 years and - you will.

Phone? On your P-H-O-N-E? AAAARRRGGHHHH!!!!!:oops::oops:

(Please refer to my last post for the appropriate rant to insert here. :ROFLMAO:)

EDIT: Apparently they missed teaching you this salient point in "Computers 101": Your COMPUTER (aka PC or Desktop) is the CORRECT tool for data processing and form filling/creation.

The PHONE is NOT. It is for talking to people, and occasionally texting them (as a good quick way to keep in touch).

It is NOT for going on the Internet (except for some basic fun stuff) or for data processing. God gave you 10 fingers to be used on a KEYBOARD, not on something so tiny that you can't even SEE it - the screen or the digits.

What's that you say? You don't "get" that one - either?

Once again, ;) - you will. The day will come when you can't see well enough for that !%@$@)( hypnotic device in peoples palms that turns them into zombies. Its not fun, trust me. :cautious:

Brings to mind the Fakebook dilemma when they were debating how to train their AI program. The choices were to get permission/license to use the material, or use the same but in pirated form. Of course, they chose the pirated material as being cheaper and more efficient to steal. You wonder how many "private" databases are training AI programs for a fee, but to the landlord rather than the owner of the data!

I don't know. He knows he took them and uploaded to somewhere or downloaded them to his computer from his phone. I don't understand how 400 pictures worked then some didn't some work. That is over my head. I would even be willing to pay and technician if I to to log into my computer or take my phone to at a store with android and see if they can find them by by running diagnostics on the phone. I would think somebody somebody could find them but I don't know. On my windows 10 computer, I just plug the phone into the computer and go to my pc and picks up the phone and I can down load the pics directly from the phone. With apple, you would need to have done a back up with apple for them to have on the apple system. I don't know often apple backs the phone up automatically.

I don't know since he uses google if they can help find them. But a windows 10 or 11 expert could log into the computer from online for a charge and they could find them if they are on his computer. Apple could also for sure if he took it to an apple store that has all those technicians. I have never had an android so I don't how they operate like that. But many computer experts are specialist different in different brands of cell phones.

Like you go to that big apple store near me and they make sure you backed up with whoever. They log into your phone with their wifi and they can find anything on that phone. That could be dangerous if you have something on there you don't want them to find, like child prn or something bad like that.

They won't log the phone on their wifi if you don't give them permission. You have keep punching buttons to allow them to do it. But they could locate all the pictures without being on their wifi with your permission. That is pretty much people in sales and customer service. They have major technicians in the back of the store in like a technician room. The customer service rep will say we need to run diagnostics. Is that okay with you?

OK - Joking aside (hope you found that enjoyable - in a 'Sam Kinnison' way ;) - its one of my few ways of blowing off the residual crankiness from a Shingles outbreak I've 'enjoyed' for the past week  ), I have a serious question:

I used Carbonite for a few years after a 2015 computer crash - it was kinda slow, but worked OK, until they stopped backing up my ACI apprasal files because they suddenly decided they were "software" rather than data files (or rather were in a proprietary software directory - you literally can't make this stuff up!) This of course defeated the entire purpose of buying their service, which I told them, and then discontinued it. The MFs!!

So for about 7 years I've been back to just offloading to external hard drives ... not very often (to put it mildly :ROFLMAO:)

Since you are obviously far more knowledgeable in this area than I ever will be - what auto-file-save cloud software (for Windows, of course) would you recommend? I'd rather ask you than rely on an Internet search. :giggle:

Thanks in advance.

If your computer has died or something, then about the only way they can do its by tearing the thing down and putting on another computer that copies everything on it.

On my computer, I have downloaded all the recent pictures and it not grab all of them and then I had to look through all of the photos on my phone and have been successful finding them on the phone emailing them to myself before. I don't know why it does that sometimes. I have it happen a few times and when I found them on my phone, I was like great, I didn't lose them.

I could have backed them up on apple and downloaded them. But I just emailed them to myself from my phone. I could have texted them too.

The pictures on my phone are usually organized by date. For some reason the computer does not recognize them as recent photos. That has only happened a few times, but it is scary when you say I know I took that picture.

I delete all my photos when I download them on windows 10. I have several photos on my phone, but usually all I do is get windows 10 to delete my recent photos. So if it didn't catch some of them, it is easy for me to say why didn't you do that? Then I have tried again and it didn't do it so then i just go back to my phone and see that the pics I needed were there.

I don't know if that makes sense to you or not but I don't have a ton of pictures on my phone. I download them and delete them at the same time.

I haven't called microsoft or apple on why it does that sometimes.
