Do any of you do narrative reports? I have never had a request for one so I haven't seen one. I will likely buy the AI book, however, those books aren't always the most practical examples. I would like to see one in action and maybe write a few samples myself, I'm just not experienced at this point and would like to learn, especially since it's been relatively quiet this week and I have time to learn something new. If you don't mind you can e-mail. If you send one let me know by posting here, just in case my junk filter catches it.

I know my writing has always been my weakest link and I think this would be a good exercise for me to improve myself in this area. My wife is going to have fun proofing my first couple, lol.

Thanks,

Ed

Just read that I would need to do a sample narrative for SRA designition through the AI so I would really like to learn this.

Take AI's course on Narrative Report Writing.

Wayne Tomlinson

Start with a basic outline that follows Std 2 and then keep expanding the bullet points.

Yeah, I plan on taking the class. Maybe I'll post my sample when I'm done. Seems like people are kinda scared to post stuff here, I searched other forums on here last night and noone would post one.

No one wants to give away their work product for free.

There is some report writing software available for purchase but it isn't necessary if you can use Word and Excel.

When you take the AI Demo Alternative Report class, you agree not to distribute your report.

I caution using a boot leg copy of the narrative sections of the AI Demo Class. Reading someone's report defeats the purpose of the learning process.

The AI Demo Alternative course goes into some arcane areas not found in typical residential report. The emphasis in the course is on writing skills and most will find this course exceptionally beneficial.

You can buy a report for $69.95. Try using this when you have your next multi-family report.

I'll take that class for sure. I am not asking for anyone to work for free as I don't do work for free. As I said above, I have never had an order for a narrative report and wanted to see a sample, that's it. I have read USPAP cover to cover and created an outline for a narrative report and I will likely write one without seeing a sample just to start the learning process fresh. I'll also look for a nearby AI course as well, I appreciate the feedback here though. Just trying to strengthen my weak points.

Good luck to everyone,

Ed

What type of property are you appraising?

I'm not appraising a property, I am curious to see a sample narrative for a SFR. I am just trying to learn.
