I am looking for a designation

Does anyoneknow if those folks down in Phoenix are still peddling the
CRA [Certified Real Estate Appraiser] designation?

My cat heard about the dog who got one, and she wants one too.

Hey Don,

Can I join? No money - but I like the alphabet behind my name! lol

I have yet to see anyone on this board with a designation denigrate those that don't have one.

You can't go wrong by trying to increase your education.

DITTO! I have been around here just as long as you TC.

Any additional education is always good. I will use the same comparison I always do. Given a choice does a client(lenders excluded) hire a person who received his education from AI or Acme School of Master Appraisers?

You can apply that to many different professions.

IFA member and proud of it! Do check to see if the NAIFA or the Institute is active in your area. For all you naysayers out there, I just received an ERC assignment due to the fact that I have a designation!! :clapping:

Good for you Doug. I received one not long ago and have no designation. I note that you put in a Caveat....."If the NAIFA or Institute are are active in your area". I thought both were active everywhere???

I wish they were both more active everywhere!! Don, I have noticed increased phone calls from lenders and others in regards to "was I designated or not". Just curious to see if others have received similar calls over the past 30+ days like this.

Truthfully Doug, and I respect you too much to lie to you, I have only ever had 1 person ever ask me if I was designated or not. That was for a Relo Appraisal. The transferee worked for the ATF. They required, at the ATF at the time, that the appraiser be designated. I lost that one but, after I sent in a letter of complaint and sent them a memo from the Fed''s that they were in violation of FIRREA, they changed their policy. It was too late for me but hopefully helped others. The RTC also had a policy like that until I filed a complaint against them as well. I did it after reading their requirements. After that I got many, many assignments form the RTC. I am not knocking any designations. I was an IFA for a whole year but quit as I could see no advantage to myself. I had wanted to teach for the is why I joined. But, after finding out I would have to attend an instructor training program at my own expense, travel, hotels, and pay for the training....the I might get to teach a course or two a year at less than 50% of what others were paying me.

I respect NAIFA as well as the AI. I just don't want or need a designation.

And, again, I have only ever been asked that 1 time since licensing began if I had a designation.
