Watch out. Some of this stuff is outdated and old news, regurgitated and spit out again in a different way. I attended a regional meeting in June 2006 and was surprised at all the new "leaders" at the regional office, and the different spins they've put on things. Just when I thought I had a handle on everything, since I started on the panel in 1993, they've changed some policies/procedures again.

Does the VA include the years spent as a Registered Real Estate Appraiser Trainee toward the minimum five year appraisal experience requirement to get on the VA Fee Appraiser list.

The answer is no. You need 5 years experience as an appraiser. If you have other training such as an archetect, contractor, home inspector, or some other trade that gives you a broad knowledge of real estate or construction, and are a veteran, that helps as well. Right now there is an oversupply of appraisers on the VA Fee Panel nationwide.

Your location says Ohio, likely means the Cleveland VA RLC. Go to the link above, click on your state in the image map, and it should take you to where you need to go to find that region's specific application (probably a PDF file)
