....only if they're braided, waxed, and interwoven with ear hair.:new_smile-l:

I said "over-grown". Obviously attention to personal grooming improves the situation.:rof::rof:

They get a resume when I get a profit and loss statement from the lender..

I include a resume and qualifications page in every report, actually a page and a half by the time I add the paragraphs required by the NAIFA and AI. Been doing that for over twenty years and it has been beneficial in my opinion. Somebody that starts out unhappy about my report starts back tracking after they see my qualification page. Other readers of my reports have ordered appraisals from me because of my qualification page. So to me it has been a good business decision to include that info. I do not include a copy of my license however, they can verify that on the ASC website. Occasionally a new client will request one, which I send as a separate locked pdf file.

Jo Ann,

Do you enclose education, classes taken etc in your resume or do you also enclose recent assignments showing your experience?

I show designations earned, listing on FHA roster, experience with list of offices that I have worked in, which goes back to 1967 (have appraised residential properties in four states--we moved a lot for awhile), then all the appraisal courses I have taken since my first one in 1975. It is a saved paragraph in my appraisal software, so I just need to add a new seminar when I take one (a friend of mine calls me an education junky--I am addicted to appraisal seminars). Then I have saved that paragraph into a word document which I print to pdf to send potential new clients.

My qualifications page(s) are included with every report. In addition to the Additional Certifications and Disclosures that every on this Forum loves to hammer me about.

Yet, I've rarely been asked to remove them. Why is that?

I never put a resume in the report unless I am asked to. I have read too many reports where there is a resume at the end and the person makes themselves sound like the God of Appraising. Then I read mine and its like, "Shoot, I'm doing the same thing". The egomaniac in us all pours out in a resume, maybe because we've been hammered about "selling ourselves" when we write one. So then I try toning it down a bit (okay, a lot) and it has no pizzaz. It's like: "Jim appraises, and he's been doing it a while". I just haven't found the right resume balance to be comfortable including them every time. The latest incarnation comes close, so maybe I'll start putting one in to see if there is any positive effect from it.

On the nose and ear hair thing I am cursed. Aside from on top of my head I have very little body hair. Five days without shaving is like the average guy's 5 o'clock shadow. My mother never shaved her legs and they were always smooth without hair, my older brother was cursed with that (kind of looks funny on a 300# guy who's 6'8"). I suppose, if it will help, I can always go for ear hair implants, that way I can customize the length.

I always have my nose and ear hair waxed as part of the full service salon(including happy ending) I visit for haircuts. I have to resort to sticking pieces of brillo pads in my ears between haircuts to give the aura of experience.

I am getting this mental picture................:rof:That's a gem, Rex - thanks for the laugh!:rof:

Qualifications of Appraiser page and License (CG) page are included with every report. Its an electronic copy, its like digital photos, it doesn't cost me anything, I throw everything AND the kitchen sink at them. If there is a difference of opinion that is a great place to start.

I am a Certified General who has been appraising properties in the same communities for 27 years. I love telling homeowners what was on their home site before their house was built or how the previous owner added the garage. Sometimes I bring the builder's sales brochure from when the house was built 25 years ago and tell them how the sections of the development went in.

I wear a reduced ID sized copy of my license with my photo on a lanyard around my neck, a shirt and tie and hand them my business card. When I do the property inspection I tell them to give me a tour and tell me everything they can about the property at which point I draw their attention to my tape recorder and hit the record button and off we go.

They ALWAYS say: "you are much more thorough than the last guy".

Much of it is simply "eyewash" but nobody questions my values or expertise.

I go in there like an attorney on a death penalty case.

Every guy who went in before me or after me is going to look like a minor leaguer.

I provide the report requested by the client, plain and simple.
