Then how do the gas stations everywhere in CA get away with charging more?

Hmmmm.....tis true. To use any credit card at an Arco, you are charged .45 per transaction. Maybe I will need to call Visa to inquire about this surcharge. I'll keep you posted.

I was just told by someone that the charge is for ATM, not Visa or MasterCard usage. The charge at the gas station is for the use of the ATM, not a MasterCard or visa surcharge.

Make sure to have the homeowner/owner of the credit card sign a borrower's receipt that says they agree they are paying for a service, that payment is not dependent on opinion of value, that they agree to exhorbitant fees if they try to do a chargeback, that they understand they are entitled to a copy of the appraisal from their lender but NOT you, etc. If you can, do a card swipe or at least do a pencil imprint of the card and write down the 3 digits on the back of the card as well.

I have attached the credit card disclosure form that I use for credit card transactions. I hope that it helps. :)

Thanks so much. I developed one as well, but like yours better. Thanks for sharing.

Nice start, but needs to be more specific, it should state that they agree to PAY the fee, using zzz credit card #, that they agree that the fee is not contingent on a particular value and that they understand that you will not be providing them with a copy of the appraisal, and that payment for the appraisal is not contingent on receiving a copy etc... Also be sure to include the fact that you are providing a service, not a product. (services are treated differently in charge backs). Also provide for attorney's fees for recovery if the charge doesn't go through or is charged back and zzz recovery fees.

Hi smokey- might you have a credit card form you would be so kind as to share? I'm hesitant to accept CC's, but it seems like a necessity in these days of cash strapped borrowers.

Thanks for the tips. I will modify my form; however, I do not want to put the credit card number on the form due to liability.
