Man, thanks so much for these stories. They bring back so many memories of my 25 years working in the Los Angeles, South Central, and Malibu areas.
I've been surrounded by gang members twice wondering what I was doing in their neighborhood and thinking both times somebody's about to get shot (me) or run over by my car.
Numerous homes cleared by the Sheriffs escorting away addicts and "ladies" handcuffed so I could do my HUD inspections on them.
Did too many homes where you literally have only small pathways to walk in due to the 5-6 foot high pilled magazines and newspapers in every room.
Did a $4 million home for a 70+ year old woman in Pacific Palisades that also had a 30' X 60' basement complete with body torture racks, a jail cell, whips of every kind, handcuffs, standing racks, and the topper: 30+ custom paddles with seperate individual names on each.
Did a remote home with 40 solar panels in Malibu while the Sheriffs were busy clearing out the pot fields that surrounded it. And I wondered why there were 4 kitchens set up in the house.
But, by far; the worst and hardest was a 315' by 60' wide all glass, steel, and marble home near the top of Malibu. That appraisal lasted over 3 weeks off and on. It wasn't worth my time, even though I was paid almost the fee of 10 homes. I see it every now and again in B movies and adult movies late at night on TV.
