Why All Caps?

Deb,

I was taught to write reports in all caps and spent my first 16 years doing so. I changed several years ago, but it was widely accepted in the earlier years.

HAVE A NICE DAY! :new_smile-l:

Lucy, Lucy,Lucy.....I type in all caps on the form (addendums are mixed) but I never use ALOT.:rof::rof:

Hey, that's my line!!!

Although, I have been trying to become a more kinder, gentler Forumite.

Considering many of those AMCs are using workers from Bangladesh I’m surprised they don’t request broken English.m2:

Have you read the posts on this message board lately? I don't think an AMC has to request broken English in order to receive reports written that way. :new_smile-l:

OK, Geek of the Week Stuff.

Why was the keyboard set up in QWERTY style?

Class, class, anyone???

TC

That's cause you're not from the South. "Alot" is used alot, here. It is perfectly acceptable - along with alot of other things you northerners don't/can't/won't do.

But so wrong. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you are fairly young and do "alot" of texting.

TC

A Lot or Allot ?

A lot (two words) is an informal phrase meaning "many." It can take an adjective, for example, "a sizeable lot."
Example: Karl needed a lot of time for the job.
Allot means "to distribute between or among." It has the same root as lottery.
Example: He allotted three breaks a day to everyone in the department.
Alot does not exist as a word.

Nope - not young and don't do any texting....I'm just a 5th generation Floridian... And "alot" is alive and well here in the sunny South.

Remember,TC, "Ya'll" is correct here......also.

You'll hear alot here in the south that you don't hear anywhere else - and you're right.......that doesn't make it correct. So......I stand corrected.

Loosen up there, Yankee feller.

Does "a lot" sound different than "alot"?

I'm guessing you hear "a lot" a lot.
