I haven't been on the forum since last Friday, and I do not see any discussion on the fact that the Appraisal Institute was SUSPENDED from the Appraisal Foundation. This is huge news for US dues paying AI members. We no longer have any benefits of being Foundation members (cheap USPAP materials for one), and stand to loose the clout of the Foundation. First the Appraisal Institute (AIREA) ****es off the NAR and dissociates itself with the NAR, the single biggest mistake EVER, but now we may loose our Foundation clout and lobbying power as well.

I think this is a members only secret (at least that is what the AI president wanted in his email to me), but is is common knowledge. It seems to me that Mr. Sellers (AI president) has gotten a little too big for his britches from what I have read. Here is a news story that explains:

You can link to the "****ing match" letters between Sellers and the Foundation from within the article.

We are lucky we did not get expelled from the foundation, and it sounds like we still may???

It was discussed in a previous thread. At one time, TAF had a link on their webpage which showed the letter from TAF to AI advising them that they were considering action against AI. An email from AI to its membership discussing the rift between TAF and AI was attached to the letter. It appears that TAF decided not to air its dirty laundry and removed their letter and the AI email from public access.

I have no specific knowledge, but if I had to guess, which I do, the issue surrounds TAF's offering of on-line USPAP courses. These courses are in direct competition with courses offered by their sponsors. It seems AI considered some activity in response to this new competition and TAF spanked AI for being so insolent. Some are of the opinion that TAF has an unfair advantage in the matter.

I have to admit, the idea of providing financial support to a competitor is unattractive to me.

The Appraisal Foundation does not have members....there are no members.

Some of us are members of sponsoring organizations. Semantics...

Well the next time you teach a USPAP class you can give them the wrong answer for the exam.

Technically you are correct. We are members of a sponsoring organization. The effect is the same.

The two letters can still be read on the link in my first post...

I stand corrected, the dirty laundry is still available for public viewing.

Well the next time you teach a USPAP class you can give them the wrong answer for the exam.

If students can take an on-line course from TAF, why would they ever need to sit in a classroom? And if there is no one to sit in a classroom...FL doesn't recognize online USPAP courses. I suspect every USPAP instructor will be clamoring to teach in FL now.

Them...are the students that KenB is going to give the wrong answer to.

Again, TAF has no members.
