Needed: Appraiser Consulting Report TEMPLATE

You dolts. It's not plagiarism. I hate sitting down with a blank word doc page and trying to build it up from scratch. I'm apparently not alone in this. Over the years I've collected dozens of very nice narrative appraisal reports both summary and self contained and for a variety of property types and intended uses.

I don't copy them. But I do look at how someone else built them up, some of the narrative styling, how they were organized, etc. I've used bits and pieces and also improved on them.

Why are you pouncing on this guy and mocking him? He's a fellow appraiser and you should either be helpful or at least polite. Maybe the guy is a genius at some type of work that you may need some help on at some point.

Please post templates in this thread.

Hi Andrew,

Several years ago I remember reading in a publication or seeing on The Watercooler that an SRA sells sample reports of all types, REO's narrative, commercial etc. I never paid much attention to it, so I am sorry I can not pass it along to you. If you call the Appraisal Institute, they may know who the member is that sells the reports. I know you are just looking for ideas on formatting and making sure you include all the pertinent data within your report, so maybe the AI can get you on the right track.

I did google sample appraisal reports for sale, and found this link which has a few free downloadable reports. http://www.onlineappraisalassistant.com/index.cfm?PageID=7

Don't let a few comments on this post get you down. We need to stay united as a group, so I hope you will continue to frequent this forum to stay up to date on current happenings within our industry. There are lots of wonderful folks here. On an internet forum, I find that questions asked should be as specific as possible so folks don't misunderstand your intentions.

Best of luck on the assignment.

Andrew:

There really isn't a consulting template as these assignments are generally specialized. This is why people are referring you back to the USPAP. Most likely you are going to have to build this yourself based on your assignment.

It's pretty hard to provide any insight with your problem without some specifics on your assignment. If you want to expand on what you doing it would be easier to help.

What he said...

Define the problem, identify the steps necessary to solve the problem, solve the problem, and report your analysis and conclusions. Use USPAP as a guide during the development and reporting process.

This reminds me of the SNL skit with the character Oscar Rogers. Watch a couple of minutes into the video, it's hysterical. A classic skit.

Well duh! My post was a joke given that a blank page can hardly be plagiarized. Lighten up Greg!

Appraisal reports are one thing, consulting assignments another. Most, if not all, appraisals have the same elements or sections--depending on the property type and/or its characteristics sections are rewritten or emphasized/expanded.

All consulting assignments tend to be different--could be any number of assignments either simple or complex. Asking for a template for a mysterious "consulting" assignment caused me to poke fun at the OP. It's an impossible request to comply with.

Fellow Appraisers:

I received many private emails, in addition to the posts on this thread. Once again, I would like thank those of you who responded in a friendly, helpful and professional manner. It's nice to know that there are so many members of the appraiser community willing to take the time to assist a colleague.

Perhaps, I was too vague in describing the assignment and what kind of assistance I was looking to receive from the forum. Next time I will be sure to increase the amount of detail and specifics.

The assignment referenced in my original post was completed almost two weeks ago. I am choosing to take the high road and not address those of you that have acted like children. I have better things to do with my time and will not view or reply to any future post regarding this thread.

Enjoy the rest of the summer.

Best regards,

Andrew Lasher

Please point out those posts where the poster acted like a child? I try to be helpful when I can but I'm sorry, your opening post was the only "childlike" post I saw. Your opening post portrayed you as a clueless individual, posting an unanswerable request. Sorry but I thought amazing restraint was demonstrated given the nature of your OP.
