There have been times when I've asked if I could take a picture, after explaining why I was taking notes.
Not everyone is out to get you!
Why do we need to go in circles? I understand not everyone is a boogy man and that you might get away with roaming around high crime areas talking to neighbors 1000 days in a row. But what about day 1001 when your luck runs out? We all know where the high crime areas are and should use reasonable caution when working in them. Why is that statement getting so much push back from posters in this thread? And it's not just about high crime areas. Don't be lulled into a false sense of security working in the suburbs either. Some people don't take kindly to trespassers or even reasonable requests to photograph their homes. Some people are overprotective, paranoid, and prone to overreact.
An appraisal report is not worth being injured, robbed, or killed over. When in doubt, use caution and common sense.
