How many have a website?

Nice looking site Mr. Sully. Did you use a website builder like wordpress, pulz, joomla or do you have the knowledge to actually write your own code? I'm in the process of trying to create my own website, as I'm too cheap to pay someone $1,500 to create a website that looks like a 5 year old drew it with crayons.

Built it on wordpress, but I know a bit of PHP and CSS so I can customize. I highly recommend using some type of CMS solution like wordpress, joomla, drupal etc. in lieu of a hand-coded website. With a CMS you have a consistent frame upon to build you site and it is dynamically updated. Open source stuff like Wordpress is awesome - you can pay a few hundred bucks and have an original design created for your site as a theme.

I got my own website and it makes money with google click ads because I own my domain name. You can't make it with a website that looks like everybody else, no marketing.

P.S. I own 40 hot dot com names and need a good webmaster if anyone is interested.:)

By Google click ads are you talking about AdSense ads? Why would you have those on your website - that just directs potential clients to other websites...?

Or are you saying you pay for google clicks through AdWords?

I do internet marketing, not a fan of Webmastering.

I am talking about adsense ads. It can direct clients to other sites but I dont do foreclosures, real estate, appraisals in all states, home improvement, mortgage lending ect. So if a client come to my site and click my ads I can make .35-.50 cents per click so I don't care if they order an appraisal, just clicks. ps. I also get a % of some sales of other items also.

Meh, not worth the effort. I've played the adsense game before, owned about 50+ sites that were "splogs" specifically to make adsense income. Worked for about 2 years before Google started delisting my domains.

I built, optimized and ranked my appraisal site to only be found for searches that pertain to my services. Google "home appraiser" from an IP that is geo-located to within 40 miles of my office address and my site will pop #1 in Google, either on the maps or organically. Same goes for about 30 or more related terms - I'm basically #1 for anything real estate appraisal related.

I have two websites. One is an alamode basic stock design with a little customization. http://www.allaboutappraisals.com
It doesnt bring much business but I do get one or two assignments a year from it. It is primarily focused on the two counties I cover. I very rarely update it.

The other one I'm just building now and its related to commercial appraisals.

It has a blog that I hope to update frequently and hopefully get more traffic with.

Heh, I don't know anything about websites, and yet I found a place you can make your own very nice looking website that cost nothing but the $10.00 a month fee. It is called Sitecube. My website is http://www.asapappraisals.com I made it myself using their tools in less than 15 mins. All these people spending thousands of dollars for a website makes me wonder why they didn't research the whole website thing before they started tossing money around. Besides the type of website you have does really matter at all , it matters on how you connect it to the search engines and how often you update it and do resubmissions to the search engines to keep your site from falling down from page 1 to say page 23 on the same type of search. This is how you get and maintain traffic to you site. I get heavy traffic to my site and have for 15 yrs, because I stay on top of the SEO markers that keep you site high on the list. I suggest hiring a SEO specialist to help get and keep your site on the first page of a search engine. Good Luck.

PS. My first site had only 1 black and white text page with my name and phone and address back in 1998. The site made me 6 figures ever year because I had to so well connected to the search engines that I was first on ever search list for appraisers in my area.
