I am a Certified appraiser, and broker associate in Central Florida. anyone know, is it legal to put both designations on a business card? lots of minutiae involved at this level of real estate. I think it is just statements of fact, I understand about representing which "hat" you are wearing. I am also a Realtor, and VOSB (Veteran Owned Small Business). Thanks

Keep the two "hats" separate and distinct.

Yes it is legal but not recommended. As you are aware, Florida has very specific requirements regarding advertising related to each real estate licensees and real estate appraisers.

I once worked at a company that was a brokerage and appraisal company under one roof. I had both designations on the card. After I left to open my own shop I now have to have two separate cards. This is because the brokerage I am with now is not in the appraisal business.

With all the complexities involved with USPAP regarding the public's perception of why they hired you, it's the last thing that I would do. In fact, I'd keep all identity (cards, stationary, envelopes, etc) separate to minimize the chance of someone successfully suing you for being an appraiser when they hired you as a broker.

Don't be so cheap. Buy separate cards.

I won't speak to the "legality" of it but, as quoted above, our state is VERY specific what IS and IS NOT allowed ... You're probably ok, but I agree with another poster "don't be so cheap" and just order 2 separate sorts of cards. I do know as far as the appraisal side (and I'm assuming the state has similar requirements for the RE Agent side) but the appraisal side has a VERY SPECIFIC way you MUST represent your license/cert or receive a fine

Side Note: As the instructor pointed out in our CE classes this year, if you're on social media, and your at ALL mention that you're an appraiser, you're required to ALSO show your license/cert as this can be (and has been fined via the board) as a form of advertising. Make sure these also show the correct license/cert

Depends on your state law, but mine are all on one as is required by state law.

Being a Realtor is a designation? It's a license. If one is a real estate broker, certified appraiser with corresponding designations, how is that not legal, assuming state and professional licenses and designations are in compliance?
