Does Total allow a husband and wife team to share the software without buying an office server license?

We are currently running Aurora this way. This was a feature that Alamode advertised when we switched from ACI to Wintotal.

I asked Tech Support and they sent the instructions for setting up Total on a server. Step 1: Please "purchase" the $199 server license.

When Total first came out You could get a free copy so my wife does have her own.

this was the main reason we never switched to total - we had to pay an extra $200 for the feature we already had with aurora. i have no idea if this has changed to not as i moved away from alamode and to a different software vendor quite some time ago. too many problems and bugs and lack of support for my liking.

My understanding is you need to purchase the server license to share the databases in TOTAL. That has changed from Aurora.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, it was confirmed today by Alamode Sales, that indeed a server license must be purchased every 12 months. This is an added expense that we didn't have with Aurora. While $200 every 12 months isn't going to break the bank, it does cancel out one of the main reasons we decided to switch to Wintotal. The reason given was the server feature inspired too many tech support questions from users.

We upgraded our machines....now we are on hold with our software update. They are saying that Win 10 is pretty much putting the last few nails in Aurora's coffin.

Thanks for the reply. What software did you switch to?

I guess it might be too late but a la mode i running deals this month, "August appraiser sale: Save $130!" , which might have bridged that gap. Best of luck however you choose to go.

How'd you like to pay $500 for an appraisal, when the appraiser is only there for less than 15 minutes?

I can understand homeowners disgust.

On the other hand, appraisers pay $16.58 a month for multiple users to have full access to their software - and complain? I've found that most, if not all, appraisers will fight to the death to defend their fees - yes, they are worth more than $50 an hour! Don't get me started(!)

If you can't justify the extra cost, take a step back and don't have other users on your system. I can't imagine the small cost being a hurdle to making a business decision to expand your productivity. I hope you can do more than 3 appraisals more a month with your wife's help - that's not even one a week. If not - well, there's being a Wal-Mart greeter.
