... I am left wondering why any Appraiser would lie or exaggerate about their experiences and fees. I see no reason for it.

You are 100% spot on. I mean, there is no way that an appraiser who, for example, was caught red handed in illegal activity would then spend a great deal of time posting false things on the Internet disparaging the entity that caught him. It would be just silly to think anything like that ever happened. :). I mean, we all know if you read it on the Internet, it must be true.

I am left wondering how some (not necessarily you, E) reconcile their conflciting theories. I mean, if AMCs all get together and price fix, how does it then follow that one or two are alleged to always be cheaper.

Interesting is - one poster leaving comments to that article admitted an affiliation and used his own name upon expressing his experiences. Apparently, nothing to hide as he would be likely to use an alias. Meanwhile, there must be hundreds of readers and more than enough posters right here on AF not using their own name who have ample opportunity to stand up, refute and give the glaring reviews of the company (LS) that particular poster was addressing.

Can we not think of better, more believable examples other than a bitter one who might have got caught doing something illegal?

Aren't there local yahoos everywhere?
I've never been anywhere price isn't driven by competition at the pump. Prices here change with changes in world markets which changes local refiner prices. Small distant towns charge more because transport expenses & demand drives it.

Ten year old book...read it sometime and you'll wonder why gasoline isn't $20/gallon.

I do not need to read any propaganda. I see it with my own eyes. And the all the numbers are the same.

Go ask your local station how they set the price for the day. Warning, Socialists do not like being questioned.
