Hey all

Does anyone have experience completing reports on a tablet?

I was just wondering which I should be investing in, an iPad Pro with the Total Mobile software, or a Surface Tablet.

Thanks for your feedback!

I've tried several devices for data collection with Total Mobile. I keep coming back to an iPad. Using the iPad Pro now and very happy. BUT, qualifier here, I only use it in the field, not for actual report completion.

Try using your phone before you buy a tablet. Tablets are too big and clunky.

I don't see how appraisers can sketch a 4500 sf house on a phone. I left my iPad Pro home twice and I regretted it both times. The phone is just too small for sketching most homes.

Bigger house doesn't need a bigger screen. The sketch just adjusts to fit. I sketch houses around that size all the times on the phone and I use one thumb to do it. Type distance and press the direction arrow. Type distance and press direction arrow. Type distance and direction arrow. All the way around the house until it closes. Then you clone that level for second and lower levels and make the adjustments to those levels. One hand sketching on the phone. Disto in the other hand.

Sure it resizes and fits, but when you have 15-30 walls and dimensions, you can't read them to check for errors if you by input a wall wrong or hit the wrong direction by mistake. Oh, you can zoom wall by wall, but on an iPad it is not needed.

You can do something simple like this with phone in one hand. The only time when it is really difficult is when a house has angles that are other than 45 degrees or 90 degrees. This house is around the size you are talking about.

I can't even read the labels much less the dimensions.

99% of houses are easy to measure and sketch.

You get a house like this to sketch it doesn't matter if you have a phone, tablet, or graph paper. This is a tough house to measure and sketch. Otherwise you can sketch anything on a phone with one hand that you can on a tablet. Size of the house doesn't really matter.
