Slow Down?

It's slower than ever here so I'm thinking of going into something else too.....but what? idk.

I am looking into dental assistant or hygienist from what I researched of the courses are relatively straightaway to license, the pay is good, lots of part time and full time work out there...

imo whatever any of us look into it should be a field of high demand, the opposite of appraising where demand for appraisers is shrinking . I opened up Craigslist and looked where there was a lot of need in jobs ( monster etc can look in but CL is simple) then which jobs paid better , what might be part time or full time, then what the schooling/training entails.

There area lot of possibilities once we really focus...some nice pay jobs need no schooling as well..I think when any of us get serious we will find plenty of options.

The issue is similar to what Carnivore mentioned above and what I mentioned earlier - the focus on the short-term gets the politicians re-elected and they never want to make a decision that is undesirable (raise retirement age, cut benefits, or raise taxes). You won't see any majority votes to do away with these programs in the near future, but more is being drawn from the funds than being put in. Thus the younger generation will have some tough decisions since the politicians are incapable of making them now.

The Millennial and Gen Z have a Real Huge Problem facing them when I am dead and gone. The USA population growth is so slow that it will not be able to generate enough funds to sustain all the Gov Programs. Its down to simple math now. These two generations are not having any kids. Its too expensive.

One temporary solution is to open the southern gates, Let them ALL IN! I quote Pres. Ronald Reagan "Mr Gorbachev Tear Down that Wall" I guess President Trump is wrong from an economic point of view. Don't just let them all in, but go one step further; Issue everyone of them a Social Security Card so they can be paid and actually pay all the Payroll Taxes. I seriously mean that...Don't just let them in so Business can exploit them by paying cash under the table.

I am not for an open border...but something has to be done.

Is US population growth really considered slow? I'm not going to look it up but if you lived in the Western US you may feel different. People from the Eastern and Midwest States have been crowding up the Western Cities for decades. I live in AZ and it seems as though the S border has been wide open for decades. That and for whatever reason the Phoenix area is usually one of the top influx destinations in the whole country. As far as not having kids...thats just good economical sense but the "lessers" of our society seem to be bringing them into the world as fast and many as they can... Ironic the ones who can least afford it have the most kids. Sad.


On to the original topic...I am nearly dead in the water. November was decent and then did 6 appraisals in December and have 1 so far this year to see...December/Jan are always slow and I'm guessing we will all be feeling a bit better come Spring when that selling season starts. Enjoy the time if you can, we never get it back.

Wow. You really need to learn how to read. Every year the complaints are the same about slowing down and every year there is always a different “degree” to it. Please supply some facts to support your Opinion. Use reliable sources. Not internet crap.

Use reliable sources, not internet crap? So is direct mail better? A taped conversation about originations with the heads of FNMA/FHLMC? A telegram from a pigeon referencing the NAR? What would you consider a reliable source? Just curious because the world wide interweb (as I call it to annoy people) is where all the info is...Who gets to decide which article is "reliable"? Or is it just whatever article fits your narrative and not someone elses?

Where is the outcry over these employers that are stealing from the taxpayers and the illegal workers?

NC has thousands of chicken, hog and turkey farms as well as meat processing plants. They are using undocumented workers and get a slap on the wrist and a low fine every time they are caught. We need ALL workers and ALL employers paying appropriate taxes, meeting minimum wage requirements and maintaining a safe work place.
