Elon Musk confirmed he's moving to Texas. He said California has been winning too long and feels entitled. Imagine that.
I think Tesla is California's #1 manufacturing export. Looks like we'll lose another manufacturer.
When cost is cheaper, companies move out of California, And when cost in US is too expensive, companies move overseas. That's how capitalism works.

He has his launch and rocket test facility in Boca Chica, TX, moving Tesla manufacturing to San Antonio area. Nowhere near as many regulations, low taxes.

I hope its a wake up call for the politicians and bureaucrats in California.
It's a shame how we incubate these companies to become successful and then we lose them.

Soooo I guess they were incorrect about California being so great that businesses (and rich people) will have no alternatives but to do whatever it takes in order to stay.

There's a parallel in there somewhere that directly relates to the tax-the-rich politics but I'm sure there'll be others along shortly to explain that "this time its different".

Before the pandemic, I was getting fed up with the adverse situations property owners like me were facing - the new ordinances and regulations, lawsuit, etc.
During the pandemic, it was quiet with no more government and attorney interferences into my affairs. Yes, I was losing some rents but it was a nice break from dealing with them.
I hope government be more appreciative and not demand more from business owners.

Not the first and not the last :)

Tax the rich you say?
All this time I thought it was eat the rich.
Makes for a better song anyway. :p

Tonight my daughter told me Amazon is interested in hiring her.
The problem is the job is in Austin, Texas.
D**mit Texas, now trying to steal my daughter.

Tesla is not the story here. California has lost several hundred medium-sized companies over the last ten years. Important companies to the people intimately tied to their fates. And countless small ones are falling by the wayside daily. The problem out here, numerous they be, and this is my opinion, is that the political class is attentive to the concerns of special interests only, by necessity. This is not news. California higher office is not attenable without kissing the rear end of the powers that be at the civil service unions and the environmental left. Both of these groups preclude any kind of of coherent policy with respect to economic soundness and good goverence. There are laws with respect to economics that are not unlike physics; you fall out of a tree and you hit the ground. Economics is the same. You violate the marginal tax rate to a certain activity and you reduce the activity. Both are inviolable and proven beyond question. Go above a certain marginal rate and you are guaranteed to reduce revenue flow. These simple 101 macro economic principles are shunned out here to the detriment of everyone.

Last week, HP was moving their headquarters from silicon valley to Texas.
I rationalized that HP is a "old" company, not innovative and accepted their leaving.
However, Tesla is a growing company with so much potential. Hard to accept the fact a successful company wants to leave California.
