Please wear a mask.
BTW. I always wear a mask when I am out in public. I may be crazy. But I am not stupid. Limited protection is better than no protection. But I would guess from you comments about the efficacy of masks. You probably wear one when driving in your car alone and in the shower.

The cost of not wearing a mask could be a million lives in the continental US.
Highly unlikely...wild speculation and doomsday predictions are invariably wrong.
You seem to assume a lot of things in general based on various posts.
Righto- my distrust of the so-called "science" of masks does not mean I do not comply with law. Some of the tests consist of mechanical "breathing" known quantities of particulate matter through a mask and extrapolating that into a "viral" load. But 30% efficiency of the masks (or even up to 70% by some studies) are usually in a clinical trial in a clinical setting involving mostly nurses (health professionals.) Their experience is radically different from that of the "community" where we are faced with a public using the same mask day after day without washing, misusing it off their noses, failure to have 100% compliance and ultimately that 30% efficiency is maybe 10% or less.

One of the articles cited is typical. They SPECULATE that by reducing the viral load (via masks), we would develop an immunity (herd immunity or whatever) as our body T cells adjust to the new insult to their systems. They offer no clinical evidence. No studies. No test group vs control group. They are making a conjecture about a path to immunity which may or may not exist bases solely upon intuition. It is no different that you or I driving past a house at 60 mph and saying, I bet that house will sell for between $200,000 and $225,000...we might be right and we might not be right.

The rush to publish in the pop science magazines is appealing to any researcher anxious to make a name for themselves and to add that line to their resume. I recall in college when a professor did a canoe trip down the Buffalo River taking stream samples along the way and managed to wring out some 30 or 40 papers from that one trip on the various chemicals found in the water. Most were published in things like the "Arkansas Academy of Science" annual bulletin. As a result he got his full bird professorship well ahead of other, better assistant profs.

The really funny thing about masks is that

they close too many eyes.

When 100% of people are breathing, and less than 5% get infected,

something else is going on, or, there is another way of catching it, that has almost nothing to do with breathing.

The Chinese told everyone, the virus came from a food market.
Yet somehow, everyone accepts bats were coughing on people and that's how it got passed around.

When people who are "supposed to know"
have to consistently be reminded to follow their own rules,
and have been found to be violating their own rules,

Breathing should not be the suspect for the balance of the masses.

They are not testing the air in the sewage treatment plants.

They are testing the water and solids for an "airborne" virus.

Believe the science.

inquire if sick people ate bats or ice cream, or drank per-packaged drinks.

Nope.

You don't even get reports of where sick people were passing gas.

Step over any dead bats this year?

How about those attic inspections?

How did you get that I do not wear a mask. You seem to assume a lot of things in general based on various posts. You seem to have to interpret what people say to suite your needs. I posted that quote as a general comment on how the this whole virus thing has gone. From start to now. The virus came from a wet market. Oops. The virus was transmitted from bats. Oops. The virus actually escaped from a lab in some way. Oops. 15 days will flatten the curve. Oops. No it is 30 days. Oops. Don't need to wear masks. Oops. Now need to wear masks. Oops. Can't have a vaccine in less that a year. Oops. At least 60% of the population needs to be vaccinated to develop heard immunity. Oops. No now it is 70%. Oops. Now it is up to 90%. Oops
Just trying to get everyone to wear masks.

Glad to hear you know that masks help Dublin! I am happy to be a punching bag as long as you wear a mask. Your fellow citizens appreciate that!

You are saying that people are stupid who think masks don't help. There are many people on this forum and on this thread that believe masks don't work. Trying to convince them has been tiring.
