This one statement from the above reference kind of says it all

"If there is one lesson that can be learned from the pandemic, it is the need for evidence-based practice where decisions are based on scientific and epidemiological studies. We should be careful that we do not rush to judgement based on perceptions of risk."
Please wear a mask. The cost of wearing mask is virtually nothing. The cost of not wearing a mask could be a million lives in the continental US.

I have heard an approximation where if you wear a mask and others don't you reduce transmission by 30%. If wear a mask and the other person wears a mask than you can reduce transmission by 90%. It protects others from you more than it protects you from others, which is I think what you said.
Transmission of what? If you are sick, then stay home. The chance of asymptomatic spread is less than one percent.

The vast majority of transmission has been via air droplets. People are out there and not fully sick, but still spreading it to people. If they are asymptomatic they can still breath and the person can get it. And then there are people who are fully sick and still walking around, but that is a small minority of folks i think. Not sure if you heard about the whole choir at the church getting it because of one person spraying droplets everywhere because the singing sprays droplets everywhere. That person wasn't coughing, they were singing.

While they can, studies have shown that it is far less likely. One of the most illustrative examples of this deals with school-age kids and teachers, where virus-positive kids with no symptoms are not spreading it to teachers. The studies support this, and even on the CDC site, they basically mention that asymptomatic could happen in passing, rather than having a full blown discussion like they have about the major vectors of transmission.

"Not fully sick" means the person is not asymptomatic, but rather it means they are sick, and can spread the virus in a major way, especially if they are coughing/sneezing.

Choir singing requires some serious projection. If droplets are the problem, then wouldn't a clear face shield be a better barrier?

I personally know several couples where one person had COVID, but their partner living in the same house did not catch it. One even slept in the same bed. Both took anti-body tests from the Red Cross a month later, the husband had them, but his wife did not.

If a homeowner or store wants me to wear a mask, it is your house and your rules so fine. I you are a young healthy person walking alone outside with a mask on, I will give you over six feet of space, but still look at you funny.

Ouch, not making the Beavers look good with this post. Listen, you are getting a lot lies from someone. You should check your sources for information because someone is lying to you. That doesn't seem fair to you.
I missed your insult. You must be a west side sheep.

As you know the virus can hit you 100 different ways. There is a reason why we need to quarantine. There is an incubation period. The virus spreads fast in times where we don't think we are really sick. That is one of the main reasons this is a pandemic. A virus has to be special if this only happens once per century.

I agree that kids don't transmit the virus easily, but is that because they are kids or because they are asymptomatic? It appears that with the college football teams they seem mostly asymptomatic, but it has ripped through a number of those teams so it is going person to person quickly. I think it is air droplets. Do you think it is more surface contact transmission?

Yes, please wear a face shield. thanks!

It would be great if stores such as WalMart and Costco allowed a clear face shield instead of a face diaper, but unfortunately they do not. Local small business are scared that Kate Brown's storm troopers will fine them if your mask slips. All of the Left Coast has shut down bars and restaurants since November, yet their leaders continue to dine at large private parties. The economic damage, poverty and despair caused by these lockdowns is far worse than a few octogenarians dying a year early. Instead of stimulus checks, the government should have sent everyone packets of vitamins C, D and zinc.

How did you get that I do not wear a mask. You seem to assume a lot of things in general based on various posts. You seem to have to interpret what people say to suite your needs. I posted that quote as a general comment on how the this whole virus thing has gone. From start to now. The virus came from a wet market. Oops. The virus was transmitted from bats. Oops. The virus actually escaped from a lab in some way. Oops. 15 days will flatten the curve. Oops. No it is 30 days. Oops. Don't need to wear masks. Oops. Now need to wear masks. Oops. Can't have a vaccine in less that a year. Oops. At least 60% of the population needs to be vaccinated to develop heard immunity. Oops. No now it is 70%. Oops. Now it is up to 90%. Oops
