You are saying that people are stupid who think masks don't help. There are many people on this forum and on this thread that believe masks don't work. Trying to convince them has been tiring.

The poster did not state that "people are stupid. These types of extremist interpretations are the reason it is difficult to have informative discussions on social media.

Actually, that is not really the case. What many are actually saying is that masks have limited efficacy. This is supported by science, and is readily observable in everyday life. And masks we never meant to stop the virus anyway; it was to slow the spread.

Even in states with draconian mask and lockdown policies like the one I am in, the cases continue in a dramatic way. We have more daily cases now than the first wave, when there was much less mask wearing and enforcement.

I wonder why....

A. The policy....
Or
B. Not following the policy....

There are a lot of moving parts. But one thing that is fairly evident at this point is lockdowns aren't necessarily helpful. Most of the cases are now happening in private residences. That is completely expected when people have little to due socially and spend nearly all time in their residences. If one person gets it, they all get it.

This is exactly what I'm observing. Early on, a family member might get this, but the rest of the family didn't. Now the whole family gets it the vast majority of cases.

Read Dublin's post. I read that extremely clearly. How did you read it? the following "BTW. I always wear a mask when I am out in public. I may be crazy. But I am not stupid. Limited protection is better than no protection. " This tells me that he/she thinks that people that believe that masks don't work are stupid. Maybe Dublin can clear it up. I don't want to misinterpret.

A K said "masks and social distancing don't work"

Cases go up fast because people are still moving around. If you totally shut things down like in Wuhan then wouldn't it work?

I agree that masks slow the spread. That is good enough for me.

The scientists always knew the winter was going to be bad. The virus needs people to move around to spread the virus. You have some people over for dinner then they go home and give it to their family then they go run errands without a mask and spread it to someone else who goes home and gives it to family then extended family comes over for Tgiving and you give it to them then they go home to a place with open restaurants and they give it to some folks and it goes on and on.

Pictures posted to Instagram show the heartthrob doc, who has more than three million followers on Instagram, partying with a group of bikini-clad girls with no regard for social distancing.

The photographs were taken at his 31st birthday party on Nov. 12 at Sunset Harbour in Miami.

The images have sparked outrage with many calling Dr Mike a “hypocrite” for saying one thing in public and doing quite the opposite in public.

“Please, if you’re going outside in public and are going to be around other people, wear a mask,” he told Fox Business in July. “It doesn’t matter if it’s silk, cotton or surgical grade.

“The purpose of the mask is to limit the respiratory droplets that you put out into the environment. By wearing a mask, you are essentially limiting the spread to the community.”

ironic, eh? :rof: :rof: :rof:
