Even if it is not fitted perfectly it is WAY better than a non-respirator.

It's like arguing that if you need to get somewhere fast, you take the Yugo because the Gallardo has the wrong octane gas!
if its not fitted properly then it is similar to a cloth mask due to the leakage around the edges. And its not a Yugo, its more like a Honda

Absolutely false, unless you're wearing it under you nose or something ridiculous.

Cloth mask aren't designed to stop viruses (utterly useless against aerosolized virus), and it most cases, not even designed to stop droplets. Respirators are. Even a badly fitted respirator will be making much more contact that a cloth mask. Even the ASTM Level 1 surgical masks that people wear do not fit tightly to the face at all. You literally have intentionally modify a respirator to in order to get the much lower level of contact that a surgical mask has.

Thats no surprise. I read somewhere that those quick ones are pretty accurate for positive, but only about 60% accurate for negative. In fact Oregon Health Authority was not doing those tests because of the false negatives and just telling people to quarantine for 10-14 days instead. Not sure if the accuracy has gone up recently.

Personal protective respirator masks (PPE) often do not fit correctly, especially for women and Asian healthcare workers (medicalxpress.com). the article explain that the effectiveness goes down as low as 67% if not fitted property. And you are supposed to get them fitted when you get them and then every year after initial use or lose weight or grow a beard or any other thing that might affect the shape of your face. When used in the work place OSHA requires fitting. Its not to say they aren't good, they just need to be fitted to be extremely superior.

I'll assume your gaslighting.

Why do you believe a cloth mask or similar that was never designed to stop droplets or viruses, which always has notable air gaps, is better than a respirator actually designed to stop aerosolized viruses, but may, in the worst case scenario, have similar air gaps along the face?

In reality, the overwhelming majority of people wearing respirators know what they are doing. I've yet to see a person wearing a respirator under their nose, or even not making full contact with the face. OTOH, the number of people that aren't wearing their cloth/surgical/etc. masks properly is probably in the 75% range, based on daily observation.

and shaving your beard... I trained on escape packs in H2S oil wells. You also need a positive air flow from the tank.
N99 filters with activated charcoal filters are commonly used for non-restricted pesticide applications. More serious chemicals or oil based applications require a fitted mask respirator. I wear an N99 because that's what I have and keep a spare cloth mask in the autos JIC...

That's that same reason I've been wearing the N95s right at the outset: I have a bunch laying around. I was helping someone move things out of a mold-infested house, so we bought a bunch of them. I was starting to run low, but there are NIOSH-Approved ones available now made in the U.S. that can be purchased.

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am
I have become comfortably numb

By the looks of it, a lot on this forum are soon going to be feeling Comfortably Numb.
