Needed to have my fun car alternator replaced to get it out for summer, Just got a quote for car repair which worked out to $150 to $200 per hour by an independent mechanic in a normal medium-cost area of Cincinnati Ohio, others at $100-125 an hour booked for months.
I think I am just going to the dealership, which is about the same price; for now.

My buddy got a quote for $125 an hour for a RV repair, waiting a few weeks. Then a second mobile repair person said $195 an hour if they came to him, starting at when they left the shop until they returned or went to their next job. For the 3-4 hour project, labor was going to be over $1,000 with mobilization costs.

What are you seeing for skilled trades in your areas?

Florida, $150 an hour is not uncommon. Now I have a local mechanic that charges less and remains booked, but has no employees, lower overhead

Mine, independent as well, is at $90. But that’s up from $75 late last year

Auto mechanic billable hours is usually double the actual hours too. 8 hours billed for a 4 hour job.

You should be able to fix it yourself, unless you sport an GT 63 AMG or similar price point.

I can see you driving a Miata with the top down, Disto hanging from the rear view.....

Wasn't Russ saying in another post if you weren't charging $250 or more an hour you would be snickered at and laughed out of court.

I am getting a new oil pan on a 2000 Chevy K3500. The GM replacement part was ordered over a week ago. Still not in. $1,450 with parts and labor.

I doubt that your interpretation accurately describes the post.

Could you imagine what would happen if the auto mechanic business owner was called to testify about an automotive shop value and charged more than the CG appraiser?

Do you think that could happen; If the technician with the diploma and tech school is at $200 an hour and CG appraisers are at $85-115?

In 2004 when I left Firestone's management program to go into appraisal, we were billing $79 an hour, with independent shops at $55-65 an hour. Residential appraisals were $375 and you could do 2 per day. Commercial appraisals were $3200-3600 for single tenant detached fee simple properties that could be done in 2 days.

How do you feel about this?

If you charge $80/hour they might just pay for your day and have you sit in a chair all day doing nothing. I know someone that happened to and he stared at his watch all day thinking about how behind he was getting with his other work. I will tell you fees of $200/hour and up for a professional are not uncommon in court. Nobody is laughing, they're pocketing the savings.
