Terrel said, One hundred twenty years from now how many cars of today will still work? And those Jay drives around will still chug down the road.
I've owned an MG-TD for over 50-years. Roars like a lion, dogs bark at it when I drive by (they bark like its an homage to their ancestors who use to chase cars in the 50's and 60's), not suitable for modern highways, but taking a corner at 40-mph is sill a thrill. The engine's cam and pistons were replaced once, carburetors are original. Its in the shop now because I lost the brakes, but every part for every system of the car are readily available for the car from Moss Motors and over the years, more and more parts have been reproduced, I can even get a new 5-speed transmission that will convert its 54-hp to highway speeds for $4000, but that isn't going to happen. I can imagine in 40-years taking a 350-hp Lexus into a dealer that has stopped running and the service manager saying, "I'm sorry, but one of the 3000 chips in the car is showing a fault, but they aren't available anymore because that chip factory in China burned down 10-years ago and no one makes that chip anymore, too specialized, so there is really nothing you can do but sell it for recycling. Sorry, sir."
